Microsuction Ear Wax Removal with a Personal Touch
Microsuction Ear Wax Removal with a Personal Touch
You could be suffering from a buildup of ear wax. This is very common and can easily be resolved by being removed safely and effectively. Most people notice a big improvement in their hearing once the ear wax has been removed.
Microsuction is a safe and gentle ear wax removal method using a medical grade suction machine to remove ear wax. During the process, a clear and magnified view of the ear canal is maintained, minimising the risk of damage to the ear canal or eardrum.
Microsuction doesn’t use water, which significanlty reduces the risk of infection when compared to traditional ear irrigation.
We realise that it can be difficult for some people to attend appointments if they do not have reliable transport or have mobility limitations.
At Perfect Ears, we can come to you and provide a convenient ear wax removal service across metro Adelaide in the comfort of your own home.
At Perfect Ears, you will be seen by our fully qualified audiologist Dirk Coetzee, who holds his professional registration with The Australian College of Audiology. Dirk graduated with a Master of Audiology from Flinders University and has worked in the hearing industry predominantly in metro Adelaide but also in the Riverland and Barossa Valley.
Dirk has undergone further accreditation to perform ear wax removal using the latest microsuction and mechanical removal techniques.
When Dirk is not working, you’ll find him exploring the coast on his stand-up paddleboard or planting next season’s veggies in his garden.

We recommend that you use this product for 3 days in the lead up to your wax removal appointment to help soften the ear wax. It can also be used as a preventative or maintenance product to help reduce excessive wax build up as directed by the instructions.
This product helps to dry out excessive moisture in the ear from showering or other water related activities such as surfing or diving. This aids in restoring normal pH to prevent microbial growth and inhibit infection. We also recommend this to people who use hearing aids who have issues with moisture in their ears.
Products are available for purchase in person.

Ear wax which is also known as cerumen, is a mixture of secretions from oil (sebaceous) glands and less-viscous ones from modified sweat (apocrine) glands. The primary components of earwax are 60% shed layers of skin (keratin) and 12–20% saturated and unsaturated long-chain fatty acids, alcohols and 6–9% is cholesterol.
Ear wax is there to protect the ear from infection and provides a barrier to insects and water. It usually moves out of the ear canal naturally. However, when there is excessive build up, it can cause issues and should be removed.
Microsuction is a method of removing ear wax using a medical suction device to gently suck out the ear wax from your ear canal. It does not involve using any water or flushing the ear.
Microsuction is considered the safest and most effective method for removing excessive build up of ear wax. This is because it is not as invasive as syringing or ear irrigation which introduces water to the ear which can be uncomfortable when flushing against the ear drum. The presence of water can also increase the risk of an infection. Some people may suffer temporarily from tinnitus or vertigo following microsuction. Since the ear canal is being observed throughout the process, it makes microsuction an exceptionally safe procedure.
The microsuction procedure can be a bit loud while performed, but not so loud to cause hearing loss. Microsuction uses a gentle suction technique to pull the wax out of the ear, which makes it a lot more comfortable than traditional syringing. If wax is hard and impacted on the ear drum, it can be a bit more uncomfortable to remove. In some cases, the wax will need to be softened further, and get removed at a subsequent visit.
We recommend to soften the ear wax before your appointment. This would usually involve using ear wax softening drops or spray 2-3 days prior to your appointment. Our preferred product is the BioRevive - Clean Ears spray as it dissolves the ear wax without filling the ear with oil and creating a further temporarily blocked feeling.
We understand that people have different preferred methods of payment. We accept payment on the day of service either by card or cash once your procedure has been completed.
